Helpful Details
What defines a pro-bono shoot?
What is part of a standard booking?
We offer complimentary coverage for local charities and neighbors facing hardship. These projects prioritize documenting real impact and capturing genuine narratives, ensuring financial limitations don't stop you from having professional imagery.
Paid portrait or event bookings cover the session duration, professional color grading, and a private online gallery. Costs are transparent and determined by the length of the shoot and specific deliverables requested for the project.
How can I reserve a date?
What locations do you cover?
Booking a session is simple—just send a message through our site. We suggest reaching out about a month early, though we try to fit in urgent community gatherings whenever the schedule allows for it in our local region.
We operate on-site throughout the Kern River and Tehachapi areas. From the mountain ridges to the valley meadows, we know the perfect local environments to utilize the beautiful natural lighting unique to our home region.
What are my photo licensing rights?
Organizations and individuals get full permission for web use, socials, and regional print. We request a simple artist credit to help our mission-driven photography reach others who might need affordable or complimentary services.
Workflow & Rules
How is cost determined?
Who can receive no-cost services?
Regular event and portrait work is charged per hour. This includes travel within our local valleys, the active shoot, and post-production time. We provide a firm quote beforehand based on the time and specific goals you have for the session.
We collaborate with local non-profits, grassroots groups, and families in difficult times. Pro-bono work includes the session and high-res files for marketing or personal use, ensuring that vital local stories are documented and shared widely.
When is the best time to inquire?
How am I allowed to use the files?
To see if we are free, use the contact page. We suggest contacting us 3 to 6 weeks before your event. For valley community events, early notice helps us balance our travel between the Tehachapi area and the Kern River Valley locations.
Final images include broad licensing for websites, social platforms, and local flyers. We only ask that Kern Mountain Photography is credited when shared publicly. This helps us grow our community-focused mission while giving you full freedom to use your memories.
